Transfer talk: Spanish press suggest Kaka for Adebayor swap deal

1st March 2011

Once again Kaka is being linked with a move to City, this time in a possible swap with Emmanuel Adebayor. Kaka to City is hardly an original story, yet this potential deal provokes some interesting thoughts.

Kaka has suffered injuries and a loss of form since his transfer to Madrid. In fact his form had been slipping prior to leaving Milan. Ozil is Mourinho’s signing and prefered creative midfielder.

What to make of Jo appearing ahead of Adebayor

25th August 2010

Amidst all the glory of Monday’s victory over Liverpool, one thing overlooked was the appearance of Jo ahead of Adebayor to lead the attack for the final few minutes. Could this have any significance in the City careers of these two players?

Rumours of Mancini not being a huge fan of Adebayor have been circulating all Summer, yet in public the club continue to back the Togolese.

City transfer talk: 6 August – those Adebayor quotes, Balotelli and Robinho

6th August 2010

Tuttosport came up with some extraordinary quotes yesterday from Emmanuel Adebayor, claiming he is “sorry to leave the Premier League” with Juventus interested in him and the prospect of limited first team opportunities with City. Santa Cruz raises prospect of twin towers for City

2nd October 2009

Following his long awaited debut on Monday night, Roque Santa Cruz has been quick to point out that there’s no reason why both himself and Emmanuel Adebayor cannot feature in the same team.

Adebayor appears to have made himself the first choice striker to lead the attack following his explosive start for the Blues. A brilliant debut goal after three minutes against Blackburn has been followed by a strike in every league game he’s played.

Cue the celebration for Adebayor at Villa Park

1st October 2009

Emmanuel Adabyor has escaped a ban for his goal celebration against Arsenal, at least for the time being. He does get a £25,000 fine and a two match suspended ban till December 2010. The official City site claims Mark Hughes was delighted.

Mark Hughes:

“We are just glad to put it all behind us now and I am relieved he will be able to play at Aston Villa on Monday night.”

“Manu was in great form before his suspension and having him available again is a huge boost to us.”

In the initial aftermath of the match and back page furore that followed, it looked as though the FA would come down hard on Adebayor. Allowing time to pass before the hearing today may well have worked in City’s favour.

Adebayor versus Arsenal

15th September 2009

From the media maelstrom following last Saturday’s match, you could be forgiven for thinking it was Emmanuel Adebayor alone who took on Arsenal in a bloody battle of wills and egos, rather than a whole City team that performed their gameplan to the letter.

What to make of it, and where does it leave us? Well let’s have a look at the two talking points.
