Fine summary. A more conservative approach is probably needed away from home against the stronger teams. Perhaps the victories against Spurs and Utd have led to a degree of over-confidence.
Some of the refereeing decisions at QPR, Liverpool and Chelsea have been atrocious, but a top team has to learn to live with these.
Having said that, we've mustered 7 points in away fixtures against four of our main contenders which is a decent enough return.

A nice summary of the game and many good observations. It's nice to read some intelligent analysis - and the professionals could learn learn a thing or two from reading this.

I'm a Chelsea fan and of course thoroughly enjoyed the result and most of the game, but not the first 30 mins. I still think City will win the league - and so far this season they certainly deserve to as they have been the best and most consistent team to date.

I certainly won't begrudge you and if we can't catch you, I hope you do win it, rather than that other lot down the road from you.

I can't believe I'm typing this but as a lifelong Chelsea fan I have to say your article is a more than fair summary of last nights events. I thought that for the first half hour the difference in quality of the two sides was really evident as we struggled to hang in there. On another night we could have been dead and buried by the time we equalised. Our tactical switch from playing the high defensive line certainly helped but then so, to an extent, did the referee and playing the last 30 minutes against 10 men. We may have edged it on the night but I think it's as certain as it can be that you'll win the title this season whereas we're in a state of transition and I'd be happy if we make the top four.

Even-handed view. I salute you.

I thought, for the first twenty minutes, that we were going to be on the wrong end of a horrible beating. But I think I knew, as it dragged on and you guys couldn't get the second, that the three-on-two in midfield would start to make a difference. As you say, when you don't have the ball neither of those two forwards offers you much.

Still, good game.

Yes, 3-0 at the Bridge is optimistic. Would love to get a clean sheet. I'll say 1-0 City to follow a lot of the other matches from the weekend featuring a top club.

I was reckoning on AVB playing his "high line" with that prediction. Arsenal scored five against it. I'm not sure which is less likely - us scoring three or the clean sheet.

Bloody hell, I'm a bit of an optimist, and pretty confident we'll win, but 3-0 is stretching it. Still, hope you're right

Kudos for recognising the quality of JOhnson's cameo. I think pound for pound he is the most effective attacking player we have in the team, including SIlva.

He isn't dominating the wing, but he is making the most of the ball with a real flair for a killer pass or a neat finish.

He is not the finished article yet, but I think we can enjoy watching him get better and better. I think he could become our Matt LeTissier, he has real quality.

Players like this, who could ordinarily let their egos run wild, benefit from plenty of time on the bench. It informs them to make the most of their playing time.
