Next season sees the Premier League adopt new rules regarding squad sizes, and makes it’s worth having a look at what City’s squad might look like. These days a first choice 11 are rarely fit and available at the same time, so the importance of the squad is far greater, particularly when regularly playing mid-week.

Transfer talk: Edin Dzeko, David Silva and a trio from Real
After a quiet couple of days regarding incoming players, City’s transfer talk returned today with Dzeko, Silva, Gago, Higuain and van der Vaart all linked with a move to the club!
Ireland’s transfer request set to signal a Summer departure?
Reports emerged last night that City had reluctantly accepted a transfer request from Stephen Ireland. Speculation has been rife that Stevie is set to leave this Summer along with fellow Academy graduates Nedum Onuoha, Micah Richards and Shaun Wright-Phillips. Each has had disappointing seasons for their own reasons, but it would still be a shame to see them leave.
Better service to come for City strikers as Adam Johnson shines for England
Reports from the England training camp in Austria appear unanimous in their praise for Adam Johnson. Interestingly, the Wearsider has been playing on the left and delivering a series of telling crosses.

With the pressure off for both sides, and the disappointment of Wednesday night still fresh in City limbs, this match feels like an unnecessary distraction before both clubs get down to the serious business of preparing for next season.
Verdict: Manchester City 0 Tottenham Hotspur 1
City gave it their best shot and came up short as Peter Crouch led Tottenham to a top four finish with the only goal of a competitively fought game. The result saw The Smiths “Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now” played over the PA in place of a lap of honour on the pitch. Such is City life.

Fulop – Demonstrated his shot stopping with excellent saves from Defoe and others. Came for and caught a couple of crosses. Only the up-and-under kicking style was a concern. 7
Zabaleta – Nullified the attacking threat of Bale excellently, but wasn’t able to contribute enough quality in the attacking part of his game. 6

And so to our cup final. At least that is how Roberto Mancini is describing tonight’s match against Tottenham, and nobody is arguing. If we win, we have another cup final on Sunday, but that’s beside the point. Nobody should look beyond Tottenham.

City set up a huge game against Tottenham on Wednesday with an excellent victory over Aston Villa. It was never easy after conceding the first goal, but the team showed great character to come through with three points.

Fulop – The soft goal wasn’t the start anyone was hoping for. A nervous first-half was followed by a solid second period when the ball was flying across our area. 6
Zabaleta – Superb display of defensive skills stopped the crosses on his flank. Could have been better going forward with one poor delivery in particular during the first half. 8
